Sometimes we set something aside because we don't know where to go next. Months or even years later, we may see it differently. Is it waiting for us to return? 

 

An unfinished landscape took on a new life when a transparent Buddha became part of the painting. The landscape had been sitting in my studio for months when I brought it out again. I began sketching a Buddha onto the canvas and liked how the landscape came through, creating a transparent Buddha that followed an unexpected direction.

What began as a landscape, transformed into a Buddha art painting. The Buddha holds up a music box as an offering of wisdom, a fitting detail for a painting that found its direction through an unexpected discovery. Our experiences become part of who we are, and sometimes something familiar opens the door to a direction we never expected.​
