A DANCE IN THE CLOUDS

Original painting

28x35

Acrylic on canvas

Shapes and images begin to emerge within the clouds as they float and time seems to disappear.

The painting captures a sense of movement, possibility, and the feeling of an open road beneath a sky that seems to have no end. Inspired by California Highway 395, this original landscape painting follows the road

as it stretches toward the horizon, with open country

on either side and an enormous sky overhead. Layers

of white and blue clouds move and gather across the landscape, filling the frame with color and light.

For a moment, the clouds felt close enough to enter, as if I were driving up into them. There was an extraordinary sense of perspective, where the familiar suddenly felt almost unreal, and that was the inspiration for

A Dance in the Clouds.
